Securex: Company-wide AI Translation Service, From PoC to Production

Securex partnered with Faktion to move from costly, inconsistent manual translations to a scalable AI Translation Service. Powered by GPT, glossary enforcement, and CMS integration, the solution cut translation costs, accelerated turnaround, and ensured consistent Dutch, French, German, and English content.

Securex, a leader in HR and social administration services, operates the Lex4You portal, providing legal and HR-related information to businesses and professionals.

To ensure accessibility, all content is published in Dutch, French, German, and English. However, the existing translation process presented several challenges:

  • Time-intensive and costly: the combination of machine and human expert translation by specialised external translation agencies requires significant efforts and budget tied linearly to the translation volume, making content updates slow and resource-heavy
  • Inconsistencies in terminology: ensuring uniformity in domain-specific terminology was difficult across different languages
  • Scalability issues: as Securex continued expanding, the growing volume of legal and HR documents made manual translation unsustainable

Securex envisioned building an internal, scalable, automated translation service combined with LLM-based text optimisation that would ensure high-quality translations, reducing operational costs and improving efficiency.

Solution

Accurate & Context-Aware AI Translation Engine

Faktion partnered with Securex AI Lab to design and operationalise a company-wide AI Translation Service that combines automation, linguistic accuracy, and enterprise-grade reliability. The solution includes the following innovations:

  • GenAI-powered translation engine
The Translation Engine uses GPT to translate and refine the output, delivering fluent, legally accurate, and domain-consistent translations while seamlessly supporting Dutch, French, German, and English with full cross-language automation.
  • MyAlain Translation Tool
Securex launched MyAlain, its own company-wide translation tool built on top of the Translation Engine developed by Faktion. It functions similarly to Google Translate, translating between Dutch, French, German & English, but it is also enriched with Securex’s tone of voice and legal dictionary.
  • Enforce Terminology Consistency
The Translation Engine integrates a regex-based glossary mechanism that strengthens outputs by consistently applying Securex’s HR and legal terminology across all translations.
  • Automate CMS Integration
Through REST API integration, translations are automatically triggered, processed, and reintegrated into Securex’s CMS without manual effort.
  • Expand Format Compatibility
The Translation Engine supports text, XLIFF, Word, and HTML, with PDF support planned to cover additional use cases.
  • Guarantee Reliability and Compliance
Encrypted data flows and error-handling safeguards ensure secure, compliant, and reliable multilingual content delivery.

Approach

Collaborative, Iterative Development From Testing to Full CMS Integration

Faktion delivered the AI Translation Service for Securex through a structured, action-driven process that mirrors design thinking principles. Each step focused on collaboration, validation, and iteration:

  1. Investigate Translation Challenges
Interviewed Securex legal experts and content owners to understand pain points in turnaround time, terminology consistency, and scalability. Gathered real examples of translation issues to ground the solution in practical needs.
  2. Experiment with Translation Methods
Tested multiple approaches (DeepL, GPT, hybrid) on Securex legal and HR texts. Ran side-by-side comparisons and collected expert feedback on accuracy, tone, and terminology fit.
  3. Validate with Native Reviewers
Involved Securex’s native-speaking legal experts to evaluate translation outputs. Used structured feedback sessions to determine that GPT + GPT refinement offered the best trade-off between fluency, accuracy, and adaptability.
  4. Map Technical Integration
Collaborated with Securex IT and their CMS integrator to analyse CMS workflows, triggers, and data exchange requirements. Defined API specifications and error-handling scenarios to ensure seamless integration into existing processes.
  5. Co-Create Glossary Enforcement
Conducted focused experiments on integrating Securex’s HR/legal glossary using regex-based injection. Reviewed results with domain experts and iterated on edge cases to improve terminology handling.
  6. Prototype Cross-Language Workflows
Extended testing to French and English content, piloting cross-language automation with Securex datasets. Incorporated iterative feedback from reviewers to refine prompt engineering and translation consistency.
  7. Test with Real Document Formats
Ran trials with XLIFF, Word, and HTML files to confirm that translations preserved formatting and metadata. Logged issues, iterated on fixes, and validated with Securex users in publishing workflows.

Outcome

Faster, Cheaper, and Consistent Translations

The AI Translation Service has delivered measurable business impact for Securex since its rollout:

  • Reduced manual work: translation and publishing tasks that previously required human intervention are now automated, freeing up significant time for Securex teams.
  • Lowered costs: reliance on external translation agencies has been cut, reducing recurring translation expenses.
  • Faster turnaround: new content is now available in multiple languages within hours instead of days.
  • Rapid user adoption: within a span of 2 months, over 2,500 employees and partners already use the MyAlain Translation Tool for text and attachment translations.
  • Greater consistency: Securex’s legal terminology and tone of voice are now applied uniformly across Dutch, French, German, and English.

This project not only streamlined translation workflows but also positioned Securex to expand its multilingual services with confidence, all powered by the Translation Engine.
